In order to lose fat without lean muscle your caloric deficit needs to be strong enough to ensure fat loss but not so strong that it eats into your workout performance.

In brief, you’ll need to regularly supplement refeed days to prevent your leptin levels from being on a constant decline, abide by the fundamentals of progressive overload and consistently push yourself throughout your workout program, and set benchmarks of strength to ensure that you aren’t losing strength while in a caloric deficit.
